Along with the pages we repair in the books we restore Bookends Bindery can also offer a paper conservation service for documents, maps and prints.
If you have a damaged document, print or map contact us and we can discuss the option and what we can do to the item to revive it.
Our workshop is rooted in the craft skills, but employing modern methods we can clean and restore most papers we are given. We undertake de-acidification as well as repair work using both modern and traditional techniques.
We use a range of techniques to clean paper and repair tears. When replacing missing parts we use both western and Japanese paper depending on the age of the item. All glue used is acid free and can be reversed.
Our artisans bring decades of expertise, ensuring the utmost care and attention to detail. We combine traditional techniques with modern standards to deliver impeccable results.
We meet the exacting standards demanded by leading professionals in the field. From fragile manuscripts to heirloom volumes, our restorations are built to preserve history.
While many of our clients are based in London and the South East, we proudly offer our services nationwide. Wherever you are in the UK, your books are in safe hands.
We treat every book as unique, providing tailored solutions and clear advice to meet your specific restoration or conservation needs.
All work undertaken is fully insured and is kept in fire proof safes. Great care is taken when handling all work within the bindery and the completed projects are also covered whilst in transit.
